Rydlówka is a historic manor located in the former village of Bronowice Małe, which is now a district of Krakow. This place is special because it was here that the famous wedding described by Stanisław Wyspiański took place, making the small village famous throughout Poland! A trip to the famous Rydlówka in Krakow's Bronowice is a journey back in time, perfect for the whole family!

The former village near Krakow has been part of the city for many years. My kids summed up the history of Bronowice with these words: "those artists from Krakow ran away, but Krakow caught up with them..." I would add, "the city caught up with the village, but didn't completely overtake it." The area around Rydlówka bravely resists the "big city": here you can see wooden barns and single village cottages, which, even with antennas on their roofs, remind us that the Krakow Market Square was once much farther away than it is today.

Rydlówka hasn't changed much since the famous wedding. The museum (a branch of the Krakow Museum) occupies the 3 oldest rooms (these are the ones where the wedding guests danced and rested), and a larger room added later, where museum workshops (also for children!) and meetings are held. The rest of the house, according to Lucjan Rydel's will, is inhabited by the family's descendants.

Inside, pay attention to the original furniture (beautiful wedding chests!), photographs of residents and wedding guests. On the walls, you'll find a gallery of portraits (including the famous portrait of L. Rydel by S. Wyspiański), several images of the hostess: Mrs. Jadwiga in colorful folk costumes, and rural landscapes painted by Young Poland masters. It's worth visiting the museum with a guide (for example, during various events) to learn interesting facts about the place, the house, and its residents.

The surroundings of Rydlówka are a quiet "village" garden, where interesting events also take place (e.g., autumn scarecrow setting). On a daily basis, you can relax on a shaded wooden bench, listen to the birds singing, whispers of history and former residents... the only disturbance might be the roar of planes taking off/landing above our heads...
Nearby are two playgrounds: a larger one for younger children (corner of W. Tetmajera St. and Pod Strzechą St.) and a smaller one for older children (a bit higher on W. Tetmajera St.). Next to the playground for younger children is a pastry shop and cafe, and opposite the playground for older children is a grocery store.

And when we leave Rydlówka...
It's worth taking a walk to the "Pod Lipką" cross, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the entire Krakow.
