The medieval castle from the reign of Casimir the Great, beautifully located on a hill above the Black Przemsza, is one of the attractions of the Zagłębie Museum in Będzin. The castle is open for visitors.
Visiting the castle
There, you can see one of the largest collections of melee and firearms in Poland, as well as visit an exhibition dedicated to the history of the city. There is a viewpoint in the freestanding tower. The castle is associated with numerous legends, including the one about the headless knight.
Park and semi-dugouts
In the castle courtyard, there is a tavern called 'Arenda. Castle Dungeons'. Nearby is an interesting, secluded park with so-called Magical Places. The park's attractions also include reconstructions of semi-dugouts and a fragment of an early medieval defensive rampart, as well as a playground.
Underground and shelter - visiting
Under the hill are the Będzin underground - an unfinished air-raid shelter from World War II. Visits to the shelter can be arranged by phone at the Zagłębie Museum in Będzin.
Practical information:
- Access to the upper courtyard with a pram is difficult - uneven, rocky road. The exhibition is displayed on several floors (stairs).
