Swimming Area in Kłaj – a New Spot for Summer Relaxation by the Water

The village of Kłaj, in Wieliczka County, is home to a municipal swimming area with a sandy beach. The swimming area is part of the larger "Dolina Raby" recreational complex, where relaxation by the water can be combined with sporting activities.

!!!The swimming season runs from 1 July until the end of August, so there is currently no lifeguard supervision!!!

  • a sandy beach and a swimming area supervised during the summer season, with two swimming zones: a shallower one up to 1.2 m deep and a deeper one of around 1.5 m
  • admission to the swimming area is free
  • a volleyball court, two playgrounds (both in full sun), a rope park
  • pedal boat rentals
  • fast-food bars and ice-cream parlours
  • few shaded areas; tent canopies hung above the grass provide some shade
  • unfortunately, the noise of the nearby motorway can be heard in the distance

Getting There, Minibuses and Parking

The swimming area is located around 35 kilometres from Kraków and 14 kilometres from Bochnia. There is a fairly large car park right next to the swimming area. A bus stop is located nearby – minibuses on the Kłaj–Bochnia route run here – their timetable can be found on the Kłaj Municipality website.

Those who do not mind a longer walk can get here by train – it is best to get off at Stanisławice station, from where there is a pleasant walk of around 40 minutes along quiet country roads. We do not recommend walking from Kłaj station – it is longer and follows busy streets.

Beach, Water Access and Changing Rooms

The recreational reservoir with its designated swimming area is the centre's most popular feature. The water has been divided into zones of varying depths – from a shallow paddling pool for the youngest children, through a zone up to 1.2 m deep, to deeper areas reaching 1.5 m. This means that both small children and people wishing to swim can use the swimming area.

The swimming zones are marked with buoys, and lifeguards watch over safety during the season. The swimming area itself has around 99 metres of shoreline.

Educational Zone

One of the complex's attractions is also an educational area featuring, among other things, the solar system and rock formations. As a result, the "Dolina Raby" site serves not only as a swimming area, but also as a publicly accessible place for recreation and relaxation.
