Pławniowice Lake - A Scenic Water Reservoir in Southern Poland

Pławniowice Lake, also known as Pławniowice Reservoir, is a beautiful man-made lake near the city of Gliwice in southern Poland. It's a popular spot for relaxation and outdoor activities, especially in the summer. Many tourists and locals come here to enjoy the beaches, which include both natural and lifeguarded areas.

  • Getting to the lake is quite easy, especially by car. The A4 highway runs right by the lake, and the nearby "Łany" junction connects to road DK40, which leads directly to the beach.
  • You can also reach Pławniowice by train (stations Taciszów or Rudziniec Gliwicki), but be prepared for a walk of several minutes.
  • The area offers camping cabins, spaces for camper vans, barbecue zones, and a lifeguarded beach.
  • There is an entrance fee.

Nature That Delights – Clean Water and Green Surroundings

This lake is a favorite summer getaway for people from the Silesia and Opole regions. It covers an area of 2.5 square kilometers and has an average depth of 16 meters. The lake is fed by the Toszecki Stream, and its waters flow into the Kłodnica River and the Gliwice Canal. The water here is quite clean and of good quality.

In some areas, you might spot crayfish, which indicate a healthy water ecosystem. The shores are lined with reeds, and the surrounding forests are perfect for walking, mushroom picking, and nature watching.

Pławniowice Palace

Near the lake, you can visit the magnificent Pławniowice Palace, a neo-Renaissance residence from the late 19th century, surrounded by a picturesque park. The palace was restored in the 1990s and is open for tours. The area also offers easy access to the Gliwice Canal and numerous biking and hiking trails, perfect for exploring the Silesian nature.
