The relatively flat terrain and short distances between natural and historical attractions could make Wolin Island a great place for family bike tours. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as that...
Family bike tours on Wolin Island?
Despite many accounts of cycling trips on Wolin Island, these are stories from experienced cyclists who are not afraid of sandy forest paths and do not mind moving on busy asphalt roads.
Wolin Island - roads and "cycling" trails
Unfortunately, on Wolin Island so far we have a choice of either cycling along with cars (courier buses, trucks, coaches) on narrow country roads without a shoulder, or wild field roads and forest paths, which - as on the coast - can be very sandy and bumpy... (e.g., the section of the international cycling trail Świnoujście - Międzyzdroje - we definitely DO NOT recommend).
Along the eastern shore of Lake Koprowo, we managed to ride (at times, we also had to walk our bikes) - here's a photo from the route:
Routes for bike tours with children on Wolin Island
Safe walking and cycling paths, i.e., separated from car traffic and at the same time hardened, currently (season 2021) only exist on the sections Międzywodzie - Unin, Międzyzdroje - Zalesie, Świnoujście - lighthouse in Świnoujście... and to the west of Świnoujście, i.e... in Germany.
From the forest roads suitable for cycling, we recommend the green trail Międzyzdroje - Warnowo:
