Why is the sea engulfing the church in Trz臋sacz?

The church was built in the middle of the village...

A beautiful church was built in the middle of the village, about 2 kilometers away from the sea. It was the most magnificent building among the temples of Western Pomerania. The last mass was held there in 1874, and then it was closed. The first wall of the church collapsed in 1901. Over the next 100 years, the sea took it brick by brick... But why?

The legend of Pluskon's anger and the church in Trzesacz

Mermaids lived in the blue depths of the Baltic Sea - beautiful women who, instead of legs, had a fish tail covered with silvery scales. The fishermen called them Seaweeds. Sometimes, one would swim too close to the shore and get tangled in a fishing net. Then the fishermen would carefully free the mermaid and let her swim away.

Once, the daughter of the sea king Pluskon swam too close to the shore of the fishing village of Trz臋sacz and got caught in a net. It was decided to take her to the nearby church, where she was to be baptized. However, as a sea creature, she could not live on land for too long and was getting weaker by the hour. She did not survive until morning, dying of longing for the sea. She was buried in the churchyard.

This angered the sea king Pluskon - he wanted to recover his daughter's body. He ordered the Baltic Sea to beat the shore with its waves until it reached her. And so, for years, the Baltic Sea took away the land piece by piece, moving the shore closer and closer to the church, until it swallowed up the church itself. The earth trembled and shook from the waves - hence the name of the village Trz臋sacz. The body of the Seaweed was recovered, but the anger of the Baltic Sea did not subside and to this day it erodes the ruins of the church.
