Zimny Dół Reserve

Zimny Dół Reserve is a rocky reserve located approximately 25 km west of Krakow in the village of Czułów. Here, you can admire large boulders with very steep walls. A educational trail, known as the green trail, has been created among the reserve's rocks. Although the reserve itself is small (it is the smallest reserve in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, with a trail length of approximately 2 km), a visit here is a true outdoor adventure, reminiscent of a trip to the Stołowe Mountains!

  • The trail can be steep and slippery in some places
  • Sturdy footwear, preferably hiking boots, is recommended
  • There are no restaurants or shops nearby
  • Parking is available near the distinctive Wielka Skała rock in the Baczyn (Czułów) hamlet

Oh, What a Trail!

The main attractions of the reserve are the rock formations, such as mushrooms and rock pillars. The trail winds between them. Children will surely enjoy the rocky passages, mazes, and the impressive ivy vines, some of which are estimated to be 600 years old! We start the trail by crossing a small stream. You will recognize the spot by the sign next to the stream. This is where a short but quite steep uphill section awaits us. The trail is marked and loops back to the starting point.

Rocks Like Mushrooms!

It's worth pointing out to children that many of the rocks here have characteristic overhangs and roofs that make them look like mushrooms. The reserve also features caves and rock shelters.

Spring in Zimny Dół Reserve

Another point of interest is a spring located near the entrance to the reserve, along the red trail. This is the only spring in the Krakow area where water flows directly from a cave!

Wheelchair and Bike-Friendly Route

At the bottom of the reserve, there is a 1-kilometer asphalted red trail, suitable for strolling with a wheelchair or a bicycle. However, there is a lack of benches and resting spots.
