- The route from Amalfi to Atrani is a pedestrian-friendly, safe walkway, away from car traffic.
- In the maze behind the stone houses, it's easy to get lost, but locals have marked the way with arrows.
Start of the Route in Amalfi
The walk starts in the center of Amalfi – once a powerful maritime city, now a charming tourist spot. From the main square, Piazza del Duomo, where the impressive St. Andrew's Cathedral (Duomo di Sant’Andrea) stands, head east.
You need to reach the end of the beach in Amalfi, and where the walkway ends, cross the street and take the stairs going up.

Walking from Amalfi to Atrani
The path goes through a maze of cobblestone streets, where you can admire colorful houses, hidden chapels, and local craft shops. After a short walk, stairs and gentle slopes appear – as you rise a bit above sea level, the path offers breathtaking views. From above, you can see the turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, white boats anchored by the shore, and green hills surrounding both towns.

Atrani
Atrani is one of the smallest towns in all of Italy. The main square (Piazza Umberto I) is a perfect place to end your walk with a coffee, local wine, or freshly baked focaccia. Atrani keeps its authenticity and peace – even in the peak season, you can feel the true rhythm of southern Italy here.
