To Morskie Oko via Rusinowa Polana
Town: Wierch Poroniec Nearby: Zakopanewarning No dogs allowed
For many people, the route to Morskie Oko is associated with a monotonous walk on an asphalt road among a crowd of tourists. However, if you enjoy hiking and are not afraid of a slightly longer walk, you can diversify your trip and also visit Rusinowa Polana.
How to get to Rusinowa Polana?
Take a bus to Morskie Oko, but get off earlier at the Wierch Poroniec parking lot. From there, an easy, green hiking trail will lead you to Rusinowa Polana after about 1 hour of walking (3 km).
Rusinowa Polana
Sometimes, sheep grazing takes place at Rusinowa Polana, and there is also a mountain hut where you can buy warm oscypek (traditional Polish smoked cheese) and drink żętyca (whey made from sheep's milk). Apparently, the most beautiful view of the Tatra Mountains can be seen from Rusinowa Polana - from here, you can see the Slovakian peaks of Hawrań and Murań.
From Rusinowa Polana to the trail to Morskie Oko
From Rusinowa Polana, we descend along a black trail that leads us through the forest to the red trail. Along the way, we pass a picturesque waterfall, and from the end of the red trail, we can enjoy a beautiful view of the already-located-in-Slovakia Biała Woda Valley. We reach the asphalt road to Morskie Oko about 10 minutes before Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza.
