Water playground and mist park

On hot days, the water playground with fountains and water jets is probably the most fun place to cool down. There is also a mist park above wooden paths. For children, it is a good idea to bring a swimsuit, spare clothes, towels, and flip-flops.

The water playground at the Soła River Boulevards in Oświęcim is open every day from 11:00 to 18:00. In June, it is available from 4 to 7 June, and then again from Saturday, 13 June.

The mist effect starts according to this schedule: Monday to Friday at 14:00, 17:00, and 20:00; on Saturdays and Sundays at 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, and 20:00.

Łęg Kamieniec educational trail

If you continue along the boulevards, you will reach the Łęg Kamieniec educational trail. Here the asphalt path ends, and the walk becomes more natural and park-like. The Łęg Kamieniec walking route in the Soła Valley helps visitors discover one of the most valuable natural areas in Oświęcim: a riverside forest. It was created in the area of a former protected natural site, where natural parts of poplar and willow forests still remain. Along the route, there are information boards that explain the riverside nature in a simple way, including tree species, birds, insects, and interesting facts about the old riverbed of the Soła.

Old riverbed of the Soła

The old riverbed of the Soła River made a strong impression on us. We reached it while walking along the Łęg Kamieniec nature trail. It is a remnant of the former river channel, which was cut off from the main flow. Such water areas are created when a river with a changing course slowly cuts off its bends. Old riverbeds are very important for nature: they are home to many species, including fish, amphibians, water insects, and wetland birds. We saw a cormorant here.

Visiting the castle

Near the boulevards, you can visit Oświęcim Castle. For many centuries, it guarded an important trade route through southern Poland. One of the attractions is going up the viewing tower.

The most famous part of the castle is the Gothic defensive tower, built from handmade brick. It is the oldest brick tower in southern Poland! In some places, its walls are up to four meters thick. In the past, it was the last place of defense during a siege. Today, it is a great viewpoint, where you can see the panorama of Oświęcim and the Soła Valley.

Oświęcim Castle

Oświęcim Castle is one of the oldest and most valuable historic sites in the region. It stands on a hill above the Soła River, about 5 minutes from the Market Square. For centuries, it protected an important trade route through southern Poland. One of the main attractions is also the climb to the viewing tower. ...
