Półrzeczki Gorge and Na Łopiankach Cave
Nearby: Krakówbeach_access Route in the shade
Półrzeczki Gorge is a gorge carved in limestone rocks. There is a forest walking path along its bottom. The gorge is located right next to the Mnikowska Valley - but it is less popular and even on weekends, it is a quiet and peaceful place.
- The path is paved, and it is possible to use a stroller in good weather and only from the Mników side.
- In the summer, you will find blissful shade here.
- It's worth bringing a flashlight for the walk to explore the cave.
Getting there and parking
Parking for cars is available at the Mnikowska Valley - a hamlet called Skały in the village of Mników. You can also reach here by suburban bus service MPK Kraków:
- line 228 from Bronowice Małe: get off at the Chrosna Pętla stop and follow the blue trail leading to Półrzeczki Gorge (there is a steep descent to the bottom of the gorge from this side, not accessible for strollers!)
- line 269 from Salwator: get off at the Mników Sklep stop. Here, you first need to walk through the entire Mnikowska Valley.
Trail through the gorge
There is a blue trail that leads through the gorge. The path is paved, wide, and suitable for strollers from the Mników side in dry weather. However, keep in mind that it is not asphalt, and you may encounter difficulties such as tree roots. A small stream flows through the bottom of the gorge, which eventually joins the Sanka River. On the other side of the path and the stream, you can see steep limestone walls used for rock climbing.
Na Łopiankach Cave
There are several caves in the gorge - to reach them, you need to cross the small stream and approach the rocks. There is a well-trodden path right next to the rocks. The largest of the caves - Na Łopiankach - is hard to miss as it is quite spacious. It is worth bringing a flashlight to explore the interior of the cave, as there is a tunnel leading to a small chamber. The cave is about 70 meters long in total. Spiders and bats can be found in the cave.
