If you dream of a moment of peace and relaxation, a kayak trip on the Rega River from Płoty to the nearby Kocierz beach can be a great idea for family time. It allows you to escape the city's noise and connect with nature. Mostly, you will be paddling with the river's current, so there is little effort required. The shortest and easiest route goes from Płoty to Kocierz beach - this route is divided into two stages:

  • Initially, we paddle with the current of the picturesque Rega River.
  • Then we enter the river's backwaters, where we need to paddle and reach the beach.

The town of Płoty is located halfway between Szczecin and Kołobrzeg on the national road S6. It is also easy to get here by train. An interesting fact about the town is that it has two castles. The kayak station is located near the New Castle in Płoty. Before getting into the kayaks and continuing your journey, it's worth exploring the area.

New Castle in Płoty

The palace and park complex was once the residence of the von Bismarck family. The entrance to the courtyard is through a 17th-century gate with decorative fittings. Most of the palace's furnishings were lost or destroyed after World War II. There are buildings here that once served as utility rooms. Be sure to notice the clock tower. On the south side, there is a terrace balustrade with stairs leading to the park.

Right behind the castle is a historic park with many exotic and rare tree species. The castle terraces lead towards the Linden Avenue - the most representative park avenue, consisting of 51 ancient linden trees growing on both sides of the road. In addition, the park also features Japanese larch, giant fir, spruce, and pedunculate oak, which are natural monuments.

Rejowickie Lake and Kocierz Pier

Soon we enter Rejowickie Lake - a retention lake on the Rega River. Here, the river's current is no longer felt, and you need to paddle to reach the bay near the small Kocierz beach. If you have the energy, you can continue to Barkowo or the road bridge between Płoty and Gryfice.
