The Green Way trail along Lake Como, also known as the "Path of the Patriarchs," is an easy route that takes you through the most picturesque corners. It is one of the main trails in the Lombardy region. The trail stretches for 10 km and passes through the towns of Colonno, Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra, Tremezzo, and Griante. It should take about 3 hours for an adult to complete the trail.

Green Way with Children

The elevation differences are not significant, so you can easily take the trail with children. The paths are comfortable, with gentle slopes and stunning views, making it perfect for a family outing. The trail partly runs above the line of houses, often descending into towns and leading to their most interesting places.

Green Way - Map and Trail Markings

The trail is very well marked, mainly with round tiles embedded in the sidewalk or path, as well as informative signs. However, we had some trouble finding the entrance to the trail at the very beginning.

Green Way - Most Beautiful Spots

We particularly enjoyed the initial part of the trail: old medieval houses and courtyards, church bell towers, elegant villas, and gardens right by the lake's edge.

Charming stone paths run along the walls of the villas, and through the gates, you can catch a glimpse of magnificent gardens.
