From the Train Station to the Market Square in Tarnów
Nearby: TarnówThe PKP/PKS station is only 15 minutes away from the market square, which we will reach by passing interesting places, monuments, parks, and cafes along the way.
Just a few meters from the station, the Józef Jakubowski Park begins. The dense trees provide plenty of shade but also serve as shelter for birds, which unfortunately contributes to the lack of cleanliness due to the proximity to the station.
Right after leaving the park on the other side of Krakowska Street, there is the Ks. Jerzy Popiełuszko Square with the "Solar System" fountain.
A few meters further, two monumental towers of the Holy Family Church from 1906 rise up.
After the roundabout, Krakowska Street becomes much less busy and more pleasant for strolling. By walking slightly uphill, we will cover most of the way.
Scouts will surely notice the Andrzej Małkowski Park, and a few dozen meters further, we will come across the Seklerska Gate and the intimate Sándor Petőfi Park with a bit of shade and benches. The gate is named after Józef Bem and Sándor Petőfi and is a gift from the Hungarian city of Sepsiszentgyörgy.
We just need to pass by the ethnographic museum, the colorful elephant, the tram café at Sobieski Square, and we will reach the Old Town, where we will enter at the spot where the Krakowska Gate used to be. If you want to learn more about the defensive walls of Tarnów, we invite you to explore them.
