Balcony over Lake Garda
The Busatte-Tempesta trail is often called the "Balcony over Lake Garda" for a reason: from the suspended metal platforms on the rocks, you can admire the beautiful panorama of Lake Garda as if from a terrace. The trail is fantastically prepared and easily accessible for anyone who is not afraid of heights. Walking the trail is technically easy and does not require any special skills - there are no chains, dangerous rocky slopes, etc. An average fit person and even a confident preschooler can easily manage it. If you enjoy hiking while visiting Lake Garda, be sure to put it on your sightseeing list - and make it one of your top priorities!
- Although the trail is technically easy, it does require some fitness: there are about 400 stairs to climb.
- The route is suitable for carrying a child in a carrier - there are no dangerous rocky slopes.
- A large part of the trail is exposed to the sun, and it can be quite windy on the open metal walkways.
- The final part of the trail leads through metal walkways suspended above steep rocks - for people with a fear of heights, it can be very uncomfortable (you can turn back before reaching them).
- We encountered dogs on the trail - they had difficulty walking on the metal railings and stairs without risers, they were simply scared.
Town of Torbole
The trail starts in the town of Torbole, about 2 km from the most famous town on the lake - Riva del Garda. You can walk between the two towns along the promenade and sidewalk along the beach.
Entering the Busatte Tempesta Trail
The trail starts in Parco delle Busatte, slightly above the town of Torbole. You can reach it by car via Via Bellavista to the parking lot Parcheggio Le Busatte. If you want to walk to the park, Via Bellavista is a narrow street without a sidewalk or shoulder, but we managed to bypass it by taking the street Via Pescicultura.
Busatte Tempesta - Impressive Trail over Lake Garda
Usually, scenic trails are difficult, but considering the views, we were amazed by its accessibility! Busatte Tempesta is perfect for a family hike with older children. And the views - simply breathtaking!
The initial part of the trail is a gravel path gently extending above the lake at an altitude of about 230 meters. It is a place for a leisurely walk often shaded by trees.
Towards the end of the loop (towards the town of Tempesta), we reach the metal platforms with many steps. The platforms are grated, suspended high above the rocks and greenery, with an open space overlooking the lake. This part is mainly in the sun, so it's a good idea to have a scarf or headband to protect your ears, as it can also be quite windy.
The trail forms a loop, and we can return to the starting point of our trip - in our case, it was the town of Torbole. From the end of the loop, we can also turn and descend to the town of Tempesta, where there is a bus stop.
