The underground tourist route under the square in Rzesz贸w is the remains of former merchant cellars. Today, they have been connected into a labyrinth of corridors and filled with exhibitions that allow us to learn about the history and interesting facts about the city and the region, its residents, culture, and traditions.

Underground Route in Rzesz贸w - what will we see?

The nearly 400-meter route is rich in various themes, stories, and topics. The main theme is, of course, the history of the city and its residents.

We will get to know medieval Rzesz贸w in various aspects, the changing appearance of the city, the Market Square, and the castle. What wars and conflicts have affected the city? Who and how did its residents defend themselves? How did the craftsmen and merchants of Rzesz贸w live and what were their occupations? We will learn about all of this by listening to their stories, visiting workshops (at the tailor's, we will virtually try on ancient headgear), and the colonial shop:

...and a tavern (where recipes for Podkarpackie delicacies are waiting for us!)

The recent history of the region also includes industry: from Ignacy 艁ukasiewicz's oil lamp, through the expansion of the Central Industrial District after World War I, to modern factories in the Aviation Valley.

Do you know the stars of Rzesz贸w's culture and sports? They have also found their place here!

How does Rzesz贸w differ between the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century? Archival photographs and an interactive historical map of the city will transport you back in time to your parents' and grandparents' childhood!

Rzeszowskie Piwnice - attractions for children

The new underground route in Rzesz贸w offers plenty of attractions for the youngest visitors too!

Right at the beginning, they have the opportunity to get a close look at the toad known from the fountain in the Rzesz贸w Market Square (which, on the other hand, does not make any sounds, but you can stroke it).

Children will surely enjoy the various multimedia and interactive stations - where everything can be touched! For example, a bowl with mysterious water - a symbol that connects all religions and beliefs:

Visiting the medieval merchant's house, trying on costumes at the tailor's, activating a jet engine, and the opportunity to enter a real "speedway motorcycle" are also very popular among the youngest visitors:

...and you don't necessarily have to pay attention to this historic advertisement in the colonial shop:

Ps. In some rooms, there is dim lighting, with "dark" music playing in the background, or sounds of battles - it's worth preparing younger and more sensitive children for this.
