Przemysl Underground - Underground Tourist Route in Przemysl

The Underground Tourist Route in Przemysl is a combined tourist trail of old city cellars and sewers. After its renovation in 2023, the multimedia and interactive exhibition has become one of the most interesting tourist attractions in the city.

New underground in Przemysl

Currently, the Underground Tourist Route in Przemysl includes two-story cellars under the Przemysl city hall building (Market 1), a historic 17th-century sewer running under the Market and Mostowa Street, and the underground belonging to the Przemysl City History Museum - a total of 30 rooms. 

Underground Tourist Route in Przemysl - attractions

The multimedia and interactive exhibition in the Przemysl underground presents the image of the city from the 16th and 17th centuries, and the underground cellar layout corresponds to the city's topography. 

During the tour of the underground, we will see, among other things, how the mill in Przemysl worked, what daily life on the San River looked like (rafting, fishing). On Wodna Street, we will see plans of old Przemysl and learn about the role of sewers in fighting epidemics.

In the further part of the underground exhibition, we will get to know the characteristics of old craftsmen, which will be told by a puppet theater, we will also try on costumes from the 16th and 17th centuries:

The Underground Tourist Route in Przemysl is also a story about city fortifications, the coexistence of different religions, traditions and cultures.

Interested parties can listen to a lecture by Professor Jerzy Motylewicz (the author of the route) about the history of the city. The presented film of a flight over the city: a unique combination of a Renaissance city with a modern one.

Visiting the underground in Przemysl - practical information

• The exit from the underground is located in a tenement house at Serbańska 7 Street (the seat of the Przemysl City History Museum).
• The underground is open all year round, every day except Mondays.
  
• Paid admission.
• The tour takes about 1.5 hours.
• The Underground Tourist Route is adapted for people with visual and hearing impairments with touch exhibits. People in wheelchairs can approach the exit of the route and there use a 3D cinema, hologram and model.
  
• The underground can be visited individually, with an audio guide (rental paid additionally) or with a free app on the phone. An audio guide with audio description and video recordings in Polish sign language are also available for visitors.
  
• It is worth arranging a specific date in advance for a guided tour.
• Toilets are located at the entrance and exit of the route.
