Visiting the Polish Aviation Museum
At the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow, you can see a rich collection of airplanes, helicopters, gliders, aircraft engines, and military anti-aircraft guns. The exhibits are in the main building, several halls, and outside – some of them are the only ones left in the world!
Here is the pride of the museum - the only Polish fighter from 1939 in the world: PZL P.11c: mural at the entrance and the proud original on display:

What to See at the Polish Aviation Museum - Most Interesting Exhibits

Main Building
This is where you find the ticket office, toilets, a small shop, vending machines with snacks, and most importantly: the first exhibits! Here you can see some old airplanes, Polish Iskras, and a brand new, futuristic model "Małgosia II". We were most impressed by the story of Kukułka - an airplane assembled in an apartment!

Among the display cases with pilot uniforms in the Main Building, find the one belonging to the first Polish astronaut - Mirosław Hermaszewski, along with some "souvenirs from space" - like tea and juice in a tube:

Wings of the Great War - World War I Airplanes
In a separate building, you will find a very interesting exhibition of airplanes from World War I - it's like a real journey back in time!

Main Hangar
In the Main Hangar, you can see famous airplanes from World War II and some newer ones. You can view the exhibits from below, above, and even inside some of them.

Aviation Archaeology, History Warehouses, Metamuseum, Engine Room
Behind the Main Hangar, there are two more buildings: the first is "History Warehouses, Metamuseum, and Engine Room", and the second, off to the side, is "Aviation Archaeology", which tells stories about plane crashes and examining aircraft wreckage - for those with strong nerves...

Polish Aviation Museum - Outdoor Exhibition
More attractions await outside: passenger planes, agricultural planes, but most importantly military planes.
Among them is a gem: Harrier - a vertical take-off and landing plane:

Helicopters at the Polish Aviation Museum
Among them is the most unique one: the papal helicopter (next to the Main Building), but also many others.
In the alley of "seemingly identical helicopters", try to find something extra: a helicopter with sonar for detecting submarines and a helicopter with smoke generators.

Polish Aviation Museum - Attractions for Kids
Some of you might remember the old aerolaboratory? It's no longer there... (still visible only in "virtual tours").

In the Main Hangar, there are two flight simulators (MIG - with shooting, and a biplane - with catching green rings) and touch screens:
In the Main Building (the one with the ticket office), you can enter the cockpit of one of the planes and pretend to be a pilot "dry run":

Besides that, planes, planes, helicopters, and more planes - for little aviation enthusiasts, there will be plenty to see.

...and if you're looking for something more, maybe try to find as many drawing decorations on the fuselages as possible?
Polish Aviation Museum - Practical Information
- The museum is open every day except Mondays from 9 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday – free entry.
- On special occasions and events, you can enter the inside of historic planes.
- Every Sunday, there are "meetings by the plane", and every year the Małopolska Air Picnic is organized here.
- The museum's rich collection and fun on the simulators might take more time than planned – it's worth bringing some snacks, as there are no food points nearby. In the main hangar and at the entrance, near the ticket office, there are vending machines with snacks and drinks, as well as tables and chairs.
- Paths and entrances are stroller-friendly, with benches along the paths.
- Toilets are located near the ticket office and in the main hangar.
- The museum has a gift shop with a wide range of souvenirs, as well as model kits and books.
Next to the museum is the area of the former airport. Across al. Jana Pawła II is the large Park Lotników Polskich with playgrounds.

Park Lotników Polskich (AWF)
Park Lotników Polskich, also known as Park AWF, is located between Aleja Pokoju and Aleja Jana Pawła II and covers an area of about 60 hectares. ...
