Pasaż Odkryć is a modern educational attraction and an interactive science and technology center in the heart of Tarnów’s Old Town (southern Poland), right next to the Main Square (Rynek). Visitors can enjoy interactive exhibits, hands-on experiments, and workshops in physics, chemistry, astronomy, and mechanics.
History
Pasaż Odkryć is located in a historic townhouse at Rynek 4, a building with centuries of history. Its oldest parts, the cellars, date back to the 15th century. Over time the house served many roles, including a noble court and a bishops’ palace. After careful restoration, the space gained new life as a modern education center, officially opened in September 2022.
Science inspired by local figures
A unique feature of Pasaż Odkryć is its link to famous people from Tarnów. The themed areas are inspired by scientists and inventors such as Karol Olszewski, Jan Szczepanik, and Michał Heller. Thanks to this, visitors learn science basics and also discover how people from Tarnów have contributed to world knowledge and technology.
Workshops, planetarium, chemistry and woodworking labs
Specialist education labs are a key part of Pasaż Odkryć. Here you can experiment, build, and discover how science works in practice. The most popular spaces are the chemistry lab, the woodworking (technical) workshop, and the planetarium.
During activities, visitors can carry out experiments themselves, learning about chemical reactions and how they are used in everyday life.
Workshops include eye-catching experiments, such as creating a "rainbow in a test tube" or watching substances change color.
There is also a strong focus on safety rules, so visitors not only gain knowledge but also learn responsibility and precision.
