The tallest building, the fastest elevator, and the largest clock

Kids love things that are the “biggest” – here we have Warsaw and Poland’s tallest building – 237 m, 42 floors (although it is getting some competition nearby…), the fastest elevators in Poland, one of the largest tower clocks in Europe (diameter 6 m), which is the highest-placed tower clock in the world.

Viewing Terrace

A visit to the Palace of Culture and Science is primarily an opportunity to go up to the viewing terrace (30th floor, height 114 m) and look at the capital from above. The terrace is safe for the youngest – solid railings and nets. You can sit down on a folding deck chair, visit a small cafe and souvenir shop. Remember, it is cooler on the terrace than below and it is windy.

Visiting the Palace of Culture with a stroller

This is not an easy task! Although there was an elevator at the entrance to the building (to get to the terrace you need to enter from Marszałkowska Street), there are many stairs inside where the stroller had to be carried. There are some elevators for wheelchairs installed here and there, but they don't seem to be used. After carrying the stroller up the stairs, you can take it into the elevator and go up to the terrace – but here too there are a few stairs without ramps… There is nowhere to leave the stroller below, and the elevator descent from the terrace leads to a different place – there are stairs again.

Right at the entrance to the elevator to the terrace, there is a small corner for children with toys, chairs, and a table – however, entry to it is only possible with a ticket authorizing entry to the terrace. We didn't find any changing tables in the PKiN. The closest ones are in the Złote Tarasy shopping center or at the Central Station.

Note! The terrace may be closed for various reasons (e.g. it can be reserved for private events) - current information on the PKiN website.
