Visiting the open-air museum in Zubrzyca G贸rna
The Orawski Ethnographic Park is a haven of peace and quiet even in the middle of the summer or winter tourist season. Unless, of course, there is a fair or other folk event taking place in the local amphitheater. Participating in workshops and educational activities organized within the museum can be an interesting idea (just in case, check on the website www.orawa.eu).
What will we see in the Orawski Ethnographic Park?
Several settlements and dozens of objects: cottages, farms - including the Misi艅c贸w homestead preserved in its original place "in situ" are scattered over a large area. In addition, there is a wooden church of the Virgin Mary of the Snow with historic equipment, a presbytery, craftsmen's workshops, a fulling mill, a mangle with a treadmill, an oil mill, a blacksmith's shop, a fire station, a school, and many others.
We can enter many of the buildings:
...we will peek into others through the window:
Here you will find a plan and description of the buildings in the Orawski Ethnographic Park >>>
NOTE! Visiting the Orawski Ethnographic Park in Zubrzyca G贸rna will take us at least an hour, but it's worth reserving more time and arriving early. Especially since the open-air museum is only open until 3:00 PM (on weekends from May to September until 5:00 PM).
Orawski Ethnographic Park - practical information
- The open-air museum can be visited with a stroller. The roads are beaten, but wide and comfortable. It will be more difficult to enter inside with a stroller (high thresholds, steps) - it's better to leave the stroller outside. There is a building with convenient toilets (not portable ones, the one near the playground in the picture below). You can also use the toilet at the entrance.
- Children will be delighted with the small but interesting wooden playground.
- Unfortunately, there are no food outlets in the ethnographic park - we must bring our own food.
- Dogs are not allowed.
- Free parking, located on the fairly busy road 957 Zawoja-Jab艂onka.
- On Mondays from May to September the open-air museum is open, and admission is free. Unfortunately, the interiors of the cottages are closed then.
- An interesting way to visit the Orawski Ethnographic Park is the QUEST - a walk with puzzles, available for download HERE >>>
