Ojcow Castle - how to get there?
The castle was built on a limestone rock and presents a beautiful view from the bottom of the valley. It was one of the defensive strongholds of the "Eagle's Nests" - its role was to protect Krakow and merchants traveling along the trade route to Silesia. Unfortunately, only ruins have survived from the defensive fortress to this day. The main highlight of the castle is the entrance gate surrounded by limestone rocks. In the past, to reach it, one had to cross a drawbridge suspended over the moat. The gate walls still bear traces of the gate locking system and stone pillars supporting the drawbridge. Inside the gate building, there is a small exhibition with a model depicting the castle's former appearance.
Tower
Through the gate, we enter a small courtyard. Our attention is drawn to the enormous well carved into the rock. Its depth reached 48m - currently, it is half-filled.

Baszta
Pierwotnie baszta była znacznie wyższa - widać to na tablicach z przedstawionymi dawnymi rycinami zamku. W budynku baszty znajduje się niewielka wystawa.

Dziedziniec i mury obronne
Przez bramę wchodzimy na niewielki dziedziniec. Uwagę nasza przykuwa znajdująca się tu ogromna, wykuta w skale studnia. Jej głębokość sięgała 48m - obecnie jest w połowie zasypana.
