The Natural History Museum is located in a building near the Market Square and Planty Park, close to Wawel Castle and St. Gertrude Street. The museum's central location makes it a great alternative to the Krakow Zoo, especially for tourists who don't have time to visit the zoo on the outskirts of the city.
The museum exhibits include aquariums, fossils, minerals, shells, butterfly displays from different continents, and even live animals.

Fun for Kids of All Ages!
The museum has something for everyone, making it a great family outing. It's especially good for families with kids of different ages, as it offers attractions that are interesting for both younger and older children.

Amber in Salt Water
A fascinating exhibit shows a unique feature of amber: it sinks in fresh water but floats in salt water. In the Baltic Sea, due to its low salinity, amber neither floats nor sinks but is suspended in the water!

Face to Face with a Woolly Rhinoceros
At the museum, you can see preserved animals from the Ice Age, including a woolly rhinoceros found in Ukraine, cave bear bones, and mammoth teeth, including a baby mammoth's milk tooth! The woolly rhinoceros had thick fur and long hair to protect it from the cold climate, and its long horn (up to a meter!) was used to dig up plants.

Practical Information
While many displays are at a height suitable for young children, younger kids might have trouble seeing the butterflies (the displays are high up) and some terrariums and aquariums (no platforms, so you might need to lift them).
Nearest tram stops: Wawel, St. Gertrude Street.
