Visiting Krakow Zoo
In Krakow Zoo, you can see various animals such as elephants, monkeys, giraffes, zebras, tigers, lions, flamingos, and otters. The penguins are especially popular among children. You can observe these agile birds swimming and diving through the transparent aquarium glass.
Watching the playful antics of the meerkats is also very exciting.
The animal enclosures are designed to allow for close contact. Wherever possible, there are no cages or bars. For example, we can observe wild cats through special windows that give us the feeling of direct contact.
Krakow Zoo - Additional Attractions
The main attraction of Krakow Zoo is, of course, the opportunity to come face to face with exotic animal species. By checking the feeding schedule for elephants, penguins, and otters in advance, we can witness this interesting event where the caretakers not only feed the animals but also provide information about them.
Throughout the zoo, you will find many educational signs, such as those about different types of bird beaks, the differences between seals and otters, owls and eagle owls, and wild cats, among others. A special corner near the giraffe house is dedicated to insects, featuring several large-scale models and riddles.
Inside the zoo, there is a Mini Zoo where you can pet and feed domesticated animals with carrots (you should ask the staff for carrots). Some of the animals roam freely, and children can touch and stroke them.
What's New at Krakow Zoo?
It is worth visiting Krakow Zoo regularly! Firstly, during each visit, we may not be able to see all the animals as some may be sleeping or hiding in the bushes. Secondly, new offspring are often born at the zoo, and it is worth observing their playful activities!
Krakow Zoo is constantly being modernized. In April 2023, a new pavilion for pygmy hippos was opened. Work is also underway on a new bird aviary and monkey enclosures.
Krakow Zoo - Practical Information:
- The zoo is small, and it will take about 2 hours to visit.
- The paths are accessible for strollers. The only restriction is that strollers are not allowed in the exotic animal house.
- There are changing facilities and toilets in the giraffe house, and there is also a toilet near the penguin pool.
- There are no lockers or luggage storage facilities.
- There are fast-food options within the zoo, a larger food stand near the zoo entrance, and a charming confectionery at CEE Symbioza (呕ubrowa Avenue).
- There are plenty of shaded areas, benches, and resting spots throughout the zoo.
- Since 2022, there is an additional entrance gate located at 呕ubrowa Avenue.
- The playground is located near the "Mini Zoo" and the food stand.
How to Get to the Zoo?
By car: From Monday to Friday, there is a paid unguarded parking lot near the main zoo entrance. On Saturdays and holidays, there is a ban on entering Wolski Forest. Vehicles should be parked in a parking lot about 1 km away from the zoo, and it takes about 20 minutes to walk uphill through the forest or take a bus. There is usually a long queue for parking on weekends when arriving by car...
By public bus: This is a convenient option as the bus takes you directly to the zoo. Take bus line 134 (or temporary line 734). On weekends and warm days, it is recommended to board the bus at the first stop near Cracovia Stadium on B艂onia, as it gets very crowded at subsequent stops.
