The Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle in Zbyszyce is a gem of Gothic architecture in the Małopolska region of Poland. It is located in a picturesque park on a high cliff above the southern end of Lake Rożnowskie. Inside, you can find valuable items like wall paintings from the mid-15th century.

Gothic Church in Zbyszyce
The history of the historic, brick church in Zbyszyce by the Dunajec River goes back to the first half of the 15th century when it was funded by the Kempiński family. From those distant times, the typical Gothic cross-ribbed vault over the presbytery has survived, as well as fragments of the original 15th-century wall paintings. The wooden choir stalls also have a long history (from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries).

Zbyszyce Yesterday and Today
It's interesting to know that the old Zbyszyce is now underwater in Lake Rożnowskie. From the old village, besides the church, a historic noble manor has also survived. Additionally, at the beginning of the 19th century, a wooden tower burned down. The fire also damaged the roof and part of the wall paintings on the wooden ceiling.

Note! You can see the inside of the church after the masses: daily at 6:00 PM, and on Sundays and holidays at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. You can also arrange a tour of the church with Father Hieronim Majka, phone number: 18 443 22 66 / 664 022 668
