Geological Museum of ING PAN in Krakow

ul. Senacka 1-3 (okolice Rynku, ulicy Grodzkiej)
31-002 Krak贸w

Did you know that there were active volcanoes near Krakow? And during the times when our planet was ruled by mighty dinosaurs, most of Europe (including our Krakow regions) was under water? You probably don't even realize that while wandering through the valleys near Krakow and admiring the beautiful Jurassic limestone, you're actually walking on the bottom of an ancient warm sea with a lush coral reef!

At the Geological Museum of ING PAN, you can see...

and even touch...

and lick (for those who are not satisfied with just touching :)

...rocks from the Krakow area, thus learning about its extraordinary geological history!

Here you'll see fossils of animals that inhabited the ancient Jurassic sea, from whose shells the rocks forming the Krakow-Czestochowa Upland were created: fossilized shells of ammonites, belemnites, and sea urchins.

Young athletes will probably be eager to lift galena - an ore of one of the heaviest metals - lead.

The Geological Museum has family guides issued by our foundation waiting for you, which will take you on an extraordinary journey back in time, to the lands that made up our ancient Earth. Interested? We invite you for a family trip!
