Planty - park surrounding the Old Town

Planty Krakowskie is a park surrounding the Old Town in a ring with a circumference of about 4 km. It was created in the 19th century on the site of former defensive walls and a filled-in moat.

You can walk around the historic city center on a wide asphalt path and relax in the shade on one of the many benches (it can be quite crowded during the season).

Planty: Attractions and Playgrounds

Planty attractions include numerous monuments and 2 fountains (the largest one is located at the exit of Sławkowska Street near the pond with an island, and another one is near the Philharmonic at Franciszkańska Street, called the "Chopin Piano" fountain). There are also two interesting and modern playgrounds: one between Wawel Castle and the Archaeological Museum:

the other one is located at the foot of Wawel Castle, near Hotel Royal.

Practical information: There are public toilets in Planty (with elevators for disabled people) - at Szczepański Square and at the corner of Franciszkańska Street and Straszewskiego Street. A publicly accessible changing table can be found, among others, at the Tourist Information Center at Powiśle 11 (in the toilet for disabled people) and in the Cloth Hall (Market Underground Museum).

Parking is available, for example, at Powiśle Street or at the train station.
