Planty Krakowskie is a park surrounding the Old Town in a ring with a circumference of about 4 km. It was created in the 19th century on the site of former defensive walls and a filled-in moat.
You can walk around the historic city center on a wide asphalt path and relax in the shade on one of the many benches (it can be quite crowded during the season).
Planty: Attractions and Playgrounds
Planty attractions include numerous monuments and 2 fountains (the largest one is located at the exit of S艂awkowska Street near the pond with an island, and another one is near the Philharmonic at Franciszka艅ska Street, called the "Chopin Piano" fountain). There are also two interesting and modern playgrounds: one between Wawel Castle and the Archaeological Museum:
the other one is located at the foot of Wawel Castle, near Hotel Royal.
Practical information: There are public toilets in Planty (with elevators for disabled people) - at Szczepa艅ski Square and at the corner of Franciszka艅ska Street and Straszewskiego Street. A publicly accessible changing table can be found, among others, at the Tourist Information Center at Powi艣le 11 (in the toilet for disabled people) and in the Cloth Hall (Market Underground Museum).
Parking is available, for example, at Powi艣le Street or at the train station.
More information and interesting facts can be found in the description of the "Planty Walk" route.
