King Jan III's Palace in Wilanów
This is a representative royal palace located in the former village of Milanów, now the district of Wilanów. It was built for King Jan III Sobieski. The palace, along with its surrounding park and buildings, has preserved its architectural form, historical and artistic values! The palace and gardens have remained unchanged despite partitions, wars, and occupations. Next to the Royal Castle and Łazienki, it's the most valuable monument in the capital.
The Wilanów Palace is a garden-museum, you won't find typical children's attractions here, and there aren't any in the immediate vicinity either. However, there is a pond full of ducks, where you can go boating (sure to be a hit with older kids), many park paths and places to walk.
How to get to the Wilanów Palace?
Buses 137 and 519 depart from the city center to Wilanów - the final stop is Wilanów. Remember that the Wilanowska Metro stop refers to Aleja Wilanowska and it's still a long way from the metro stop to the Wilanów Palace.
Tickets to the museum and park
Tickets to the Museum allow us to visit the gardens and park, or you can buy a ticket just for the garden and park.
King Jan III Sobieski's Palace
King Jan III acquired the property in Milanów in 1677. Inspired by him, a baroque palace was built here, around which magnificent gardens were established.

King's Gardens
Jan III Sobieski was a good host. He was interested in agriculture and gardening. He brought to Wilanów cuttings of rare exotic plants, including citrus trees, and he even planted linden trees in the Wilanów park!

Pond and Wilanów Lake
Within the gardens, there is a pond and a lake. You'll find many shady tree-lined paths and benches here. By the lake, there is a dock where you can rent a boat.

Wilanów Palace or Royal Baths with children?
If you're short on time to visit both places and are wondering which to choose, we definitely recommend the Royal Baths - it's a much more relaxed place for families with children, there are more varied places, it's closer to the center, and near the Baths there is the extensive Ujazdowski Park with one of the most interesting playgrounds in Warsaw.
