Jordan Park is the most famous park in Krakow!
Located near B艂onia, here you will find places to rest and have fun. The park has a very interesting history - it was established by Henryk Jordan, a doctor and social activist, a pioneer of physical education in Poland known for setting up the first playgrounds for children. He also brought the first leather football to Krakow and started a nationwide passion for football. Apparently, he was later disappointed that the youth preferred to play football on the B艂onia rather than spending time in the garden built nearby.
Nevertheless, the concept of playgrounds and promoting the attitude of caring for the upbringing of a healthy generation of Poles gained great recognition. It was on the model of Jordan Park that similar gardens - called Jordanian gardens - began to be opened in other Galician cities, and soon afterwards also in Warsaw, P艂ock, Kalisz, Lublin, Katowice. The Society of Jordanian Gardens was also established, which promoted and supported the establishment of such recreational and sports facilities for children.
Attractions for children in Jordan Park
Entrances are located on Reymonta Street, Ingardena Street and two from the side of B艂onia and 3 Maja Street. Within its area, there are kilometers of paths for cyclists and rollerbladers - both in the shade and in the sun, as well as many attractions for children and teenagers. The biggest summer and very new attraction of the park is...
1. Water playground!
On hot days it provides refreshment and great fun.
2. Playgrounds and climbing structures
Throughout the park there are several different playgrounds and places for teenagers - for rollerblading and climbing. So we have here a space adapted for children of all ages - from the youngest to school youth and a place for adult sports - running tracks, courts, fields, etc.
2. Wojtek the Bear Monument
In the Park, we are also greeted by a friendly bear - this is a monument to Wojtek the Bear.
Near the park on the premises of AGH (about 4 min. from the exit at Reymonta Street) there is a historic Locomotive (it is a big attraction especially for the youngest) and a sundial made from the original wheel of a coal mine shaft. Map with the marked locomotive
