Gorce Gate - the longest treetop path in Poland!

Walking on a wooden boardwalk with a slight incline, we gradually ascend while strolling among the treetops - this is currently the longest such route in Poland, measuring almost 1.3 km! As we walk, we learn about the history of trees from a seed: we find out how long it takes for a tree to grow, why a tree dies, and what happens to it afterwards. By doing so, we get to know the trees and the forest that surrounds us better. A keen eye will also spot animal figures such as capercaillie, lynx, or bear that can be found in the Gorce Mountains.

  • The path and educational center are open year-round.
  • The incline of the path is slight, so the walk is not tiring and accessible to everyone. You can even use a stroller. There are also resting areas along the path.
  • There are two observation towers along the route, but the path does not rise above the tree line, so there is no view of the mountain panorama or the Tatra Mountains, for example.
  • It is worth bringing binoculars on the trip - while walking at treetop height, we can see different species of birds and bird nests.
  • There is a large educational playground and a gastronomic establishment within the Gorce Gate area.

Underground Tunnel

During the visit, we also pass through a 40-meter-long underground tunnel with a multimedia presentation, designed to resemble a cave corridor. Here, we learn about the nature of caves and the geology of the Gorce Mountains - the rocks that make up the mountains. We also find out where the Mały Kowaniec stream, which flows beneath our feet, originates from.

Educational Center

Another interesting and interactive point is the pavilion of the Educational Center - here, we will also spend some time acquiring knowledge about the surrounding nature of the Gorce Mountains in an engaging way. We will take a closer look at the fire salamander, which is the symbol of the Gorce National Park and the largest tailed amphibian in Poland. We will listen to the sounds of the capercaillie - a bird from the grouse family. We will see animal tracks, as well as their... droppings! We can also feel the fur of wild animals - deer, wolf, and lynx. The center also provides a cinema hall. Nature workshops are also held in the center.

Playground at Gorce Gate

At Gorce Gate, there is also an attractive playground for the youngest visitors, which, of course, also has educational value. We have a wooden stork slide, wooden bridges, and a squirrel's den. The playground is mainly in the sun, but we managed to find some shade.
