The Treasurer - Guardian of the Mine

Working in a mine in the old days was very hard and dangerous. The deep darkness of underground corridors was only lit by small flames from miners' lamps. To get to the mine, they descended on ropes or ladders. The walls were manually chiseled with pickaxes.

According to ancient beliefs, the safety of miners was watched over by the Treasurer - the guardian and good spirit of the mine. He lived in the underground and protected the natural resources of the earth and the treasures buried in it: ores and minerals. He warned the people working in the mine of danger - his appearance thus signaled danger. To honest and righteous miners, he helped in their work and pointed the way to rich deposits of coal or other ores. However, he could lead the lazy and greedy to ruin.
