Karkonosze Mountains - Trails and Routes with a Stroller and a Bicycle

Going to the mountains with a stroller and a bicycle?

The question seems absurd, especially when we are talking about the highest range of the Sudetes: the Karkonosze Mountains.

Stairs - or rather very steep sidewalks - can already be found in the Karkonosze towns. For example, in Karpacz, we almost always have to walk steeply downhill or climb uphill...

Contrary to appearances, it is not easy either on the wide, stone roads of the Karkonosze ridge. For example, on the Jubilee Road from the upper station of the cable car to Kopa and the summit of 艢nie偶ka - marked as a trail for people with disabilities - we will encounter a surface made of large stones and quite steep sections. If you choose to come here with a stroller, make sure it has very large wheels and suspension:

What to do with a stroller and a bicycle in the Karkonosze Mountains?

Instead of conquering the peaks, it is better: that is, more comfortable and safer, to choose wide forest roads without spectacular attractions and views, but perfect for a walk or a bike ride.

Here are some suggestions for stroller and bike-friendly routes that we came across during our hikes in the Karkonosze Mountains:

Chomontowa Road in Upper Karpacz

The road starts at the entrance of the green trail into the forest in Upper Karpacz, near M艂ynek Mi艂o艣ci (a pond surrounded by legend).

Forest roads around Jagni膮tk贸w

From the forest parking lot on Micha艂owicka Street, the black trail called Droga pod Reglami starts, but there are also side, walking-friendly, wide roads branching off from it - it's worth exploring them!

To the Castle of Prince Henry in Sosn贸wka

From the large free parking lot, we take the yellow trail uphill to Wzg贸rze Grodna. There are two ways to the top: a steeper, narrow one takes about 20 minutes, or a gentler one takes about 25 minutes and is suitable for strollers. At the top, there is the castle, a place to rest, and a bonfire. Metal stairs lead to the lookout tower. Entrance fee is 5 PLN. The view is stunning! (information and photo: Daria Frankowska).

Sudetic Road from Przesieka

This asphalt road, closed to car traffic, leads all the way to the Karkonosze ridge.

Don't be fooled by the fact that it's asphalt - the road climbs steeply uphill. Allegedly, only one Soviet cyclist managed to ride up the entire route....

Nevertheless, we can take a walk along its lower, lowland section.

Do you know any other roads and trails suitable for strollers and young cyclists in the Karkonosze Mountains? Please let us know!
